Practice Nurse (Part-time) Hours Negotiable

The Practice Nurse provides primary care nursing support, patient interventions and treatment within Te Kāika as part of Te Kāika Hub. The core role of the practice nurse is to deliver preventative care in the form of CLIC and PHO programmes such as cervical smears, cardiovascular risk assessment, diabetic reviews etc. as part of the general practice team he/she will work within their scope of practice and be responsible for providing patient-centred, culturally appropriate, and individual holistic care to patients. The Practice Nurse works closely with the Te Kāika and the Te Kāika team to provide efficient, effective, professional nursing service.

Job Responsibilities

The nurse will work independently and cooperatively with the doctor as peers. Duties include - Nurse consultations, Health promotion / long-term condition management, patient contact / recalls, immunisation / health screening, dressings, and will assist with minor surgery etc. Administrative tasks include but are not limited to stock control, sterilising etc.

Remuneration package includes Practicing Certificate, Union fees and Indemnity Insurance.

Requirements

  • A current New Zealand Annual Practicing Certificate and NZNO registration.
  • Experience working in Primary Healthcare
  • Excellent English written and communication skills
  • Proven organisational and time management skills
