Manaaki Ora Nursing

Te Kāika’s Manaaki Ora Nursing service provides mobile, home-based nursing care for adults 18 and over with diabetes, respiratory, or cardiac conditions.

We provide a quality health service that is tailored to meet Māori need for both clinical expertise and cultural competency. Our nurses are qualified to deliver a mobile service into the community that promotes Māori health gain.

Our Māori-led health approach ensures a holistic, client-centered service that promotes access to quality health care.

Who Can Access Manaaki Ora Nursing?

Our service is designed for:
  • Adults (18+) with heart disease, respiratory conditions, or diabetes
  • Individuals needing support to self-manage their condition
  • Whānau seeking guidance and education on long-term health management

You can self-refer, or be referred by a GP, healthcare provider, whānau, or other support networks.

How We Support Your Health

Community-Based, Culturally Responsive Nursing
Manaaki Ora follows Māori models of health to provide integrated, whole-person care that supports both physical and emotional wellbeing.
Our nurses offer:
  • One-on-one nursing care at home, in a clinic, or another community venue
  • Self-management education to help individuals take control of their health
  • A 12-month intensive support program for those who need ongoing support to manage their health
