Kahu Taurima supports whānau through the crucial early years of parenting. Whether you’re navigating the newborn stage or the early developmental years, our service offers culturally responsive, flexible care designed to meet whānau where they’re at.
Our approach is whānau-led, empowering parents and caregivers with the tools, knowledge, and connections they need to nurture tamariki with confidence and support. We’re building a healthier future for our pēpi, tamariki and whānau to set up lifelong wellbeing for all.
How We Support Whānau
Coordinated Community Care
Te Kāika’s Community Connector service supports Dunedin whānau in accessing health, social, and wellbeing services.
Dental Care
Dental care includes general check-ups, extractions, and emergency treatments to promote oral health.
Gambling Harm and Multi Venue Exclusion
Te Kāika’s Gambling Harm service helps reduce gambling-related harm and supports those in distress
Housing Support Services
Our Housing Support Service helps whānau secure safe, lasting homes while providing wraparound support to build independence.

Middleton Road Whare
Te Kāika Whare, a national placement facility providing rangatahi care, based in Ōtepoti. For ages 12–18, in partnership with Oranga Tamariki.

Perinatal Maternal Mental Health
Te Kāika’s Perinatal Mental Health service supports Dunedin whānau during pregnancy (hapūtanga) and baby’s first year.
