Jo Kingi

Jo (Rereahu/Tuwharetoa/Ati Awa) is a registered midwife and has practiced as an independent and core midwife in Otepoti. Her post graduate thesis, Māori Concepts of Disability explored intergenerational trauma. Jo has worked in Public Health and Māori Health Promotion which led her to working with Māori Health providers in both rural and urban settings. Jo was Tumuaki/CEO of Tokomairiro Waiora Inc.

Jo’s work as a health professional and an academic informs her mātauranga in Kaupapa approaches to trauma informed care and kawa whakaruruhau/cultural safety, all of which is integral to te mahi of Te Whare.
